About this policy
Transom is a marketing alignment platform that connects product changes to marketing updates. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Transom, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding that information.
By using Transom, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you have questions, email us at privacy@transom.so.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create a Transom account, we collect your name and email address — either directly or via Google OAuth. This is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider.
Website and marketing content
When you add a website to Transom, we crawl and store the content of your public web pages to build an inventory of your marketing assets. This includes page text, headings, and metadata.
Product changes
When you submit a product change — via the Transom app, API, or a connected integration — we store the text of that change and associated metadata such as the source, timestamp, and status.
Integration content
If you connect Notion or Google Drive, Transom fetches and stores content from the pages and documents you authorize. If you install the Transom GitHub App, we receive pull request, push, and release event data from the repositories you connect.
Brand profile
Transom generates and stores a brand profile — your company's positioning, voice, and audiences — derived from your website content and any information you provide directly.
Usage data
We collect information about how you use Transom, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken. This is handled by PostHog, our product analytics provider.
How we use your information
- Provide the service. We use your website content, brand profile, integration data, and product changes to run the analysis pipeline — matching changes to marketing assets and generating recommended updates and drafts.
- Improve Transom. Aggregated, de-identified usage patterns help us understand what features work and guide what we build next. We do not use the content of your product changes or marketing assets to train AI models.
- Communicate with you. We may email you about your account, product updates, or important policy changes.
- Provide support. If you contact us, we use the information you share to respond.
Third-party service providers
We share data with the following providers to operate the service. Each operates under its own privacy policy and data processing terms.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Clerk | User authentication and session management |
| OpenAI | AI analysis — your change and asset content is sent to OpenAI to generate recommendations and drafts |
| Netlify | Hosting, serverless compute, and database storage |
| PostHog | Product analytics and usage tracking |
| Notion | Page content retrieval — only when you connect your Notion workspace |
| Drive file content retrieval — only when you connect your Google Drive | |
| GitHub | Repository event processing — only when you install the Transom GitHub App |
Data retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
Integration data — Notion pages, Google Drive documents, GitHub events — is stored until you disconnect the integration, remove the synced content, or delete your account.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@transom.so.
Cookies and local storage
Transom uses the following to store information in your browser:
- Session cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in across page loads.
- Analytics cookies set by PostHog to measure how features are used. You can opt out by enabling Do Not Track in your browser settings.
- Local storage used to remember your theme preference and, temporarily, to resume actions across sign-in redirects.
Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict how we process your data
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format (data portability)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@transom.so. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Transom is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or with a notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Transom after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
